The Sand Bar - Batch 1

This translucent, lagoon-blue powerhouse was inspired by the clear Hawaiian waters we play in, the tropical rainfall we depend on, and the Jiu Jitsu mats we frequent. We tapped in The Arm Bar Soap Co., purveyors of high-level, all-natural bacteria-fighting soap, to craft this batch for us. This product is ideal for ocean dwellers + Jiu Jitsu players alike.

In fact, the same rain that flourishes the land subsequently opens the rivers, streams, and drain systems which can lead to both agricultural + urban runoff, sewage spills, and overflows which can contain harmful infection-causing bacteria - a realm we are all too familiar with at Arm Bar.

Each and every bar comes infused with a supercharged, organic, bacteria-destroying blend of Australian Tea Tree Oil, Maui Lavender Oil, Laukahi Extract, and Sandalwood Oil. This mixture is fortified with a heaping dose of hydrating ingredients sourced across the island chain - organic Kukui Nut Oil from O’ahu, Mangosteen Extract from the Big Island, and Honey from the island of Kaua’i. The vitamin-rich Kukui Nut Oil and Mangosteen work to strengthen the skin barrier with rich fatty acids and Xanthones while the Honey offers anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits; meanwhile all work congruently to soothe and relieve sun-damaged skin. If that wasn’t enough, we then layered in a bountiful amount of Aloe Vera Butter + Avocado Oil for their high levels of Vitamin E and anti-oxidants. This deep-cleansing monster is finished off with soothing Alaea sea salt from the west side of Kaua’i, magnesium-rich Chlorella powder (which lends itself to the color of the soap bar), and finally sprinkled with ground Apricot Seed “Sand” to aid in gently exfoliating away any dead skin acquired during training or surfing.

The Northern Knight Batch

A powerful bacteria destroyer inspired by antibacterial and anti-fungal ingredients found in the Northern hemisphere.

A trip to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in early 2018 led us to a Farmers Market (Marché Jean Talon) and subsequently a local soap bar that would inspire our latest After-Training Soap creation - “The Northern Knight Batch” - a powerful bacteria destroyer infused with antibacterial and anti-fungal ingredients from the Northern hemisphere.

A “Maple Syrup Soap Bar” - coaxed our curiosity and further research would lead us to learning of the 54 compounds within the sweet substance containing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. We’ve also added in two other sticky substances - Canadian Honey and Organic Pine Tar, whose piney scents and antiseptic properties paired well with the Pine needle oil we also sourced from Canada. Another major ingredient in this batch is fresh Dragon’s Blood Extract - a crimson resin (lending its color to the bar) that has been used to heal wounds, both internally and externally, since the 1600’s. We’ve also added in a 3-oil concoction of bacteria-killing Himalayan Cedar Wood, Phenol-charged Oregano, and our signature high-grade Australian Tea Tree. A mineral-rich Alaskan Glacial Mud was then blended in to pull impurities from the skin while Marshmallow Root crumbs were infused to both moisturize and exfoliate any dead skin acquired during heavy training. The Rainbow Warrior Batch

Over the rainbow and across the Atlantic, we searched both near and far to harness the powerful ingredients worthy of our latest fungus fighting blend. The main ingredient of this batch, Niaouli Oil, is a direct relative of Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree), and grows wild on the island of Madagascar. Characterized by it’s anti-fungal + anti-microbial properties, it is widely used for its ability in killing gram-positive bacteria. Next, from the island of Hawai’i aka “The Big Island”, we sourced a healthy amount of ‘Ohi’a Lehua White Honey, a very special variation only harvested in Hawai’i by small privately owned apiaries and produced in very limited quantities. The naturally high viscosity of the Honey helps to provide a protective barrier, preventing infection and further stimulating quick wound-healing. We then added yet another tier of antibacterial power with the addition of organic, California-grown Oregano oil and O’ahu-grown Kukui Nut oil (which also helps to rehydrate the skin). This is quickly followed up with a splash of fatty-acid rich, Almond Oil, which lends its sweet scent to the batch. Next, Aloe Vera Extract is infused to reduce inflammation while a generous pour of Champagne Extract is added, whose antioxidant richness has proven to be 20 to 50 times more powerful than vitamin C and vitamin E. These Rainbow Warriors are finally rounded off with Menthol Crystals, designed to re-open pores and allow our bacteria fighting recipe inside to deep cleanse. Meanwhile, Crushed Rainbow Sea Sponge is sprinkled in to help exfoliate away any dead skin acquired during heavy training.

The Lava-Puhi Batch

Straight from our Hawaiian roots, we re-visited home to gather another round of powerful ingredients born from Hawai'i's Volcanic-rich soil for our latest After-training soap batch.

Benefits

We blended purifying Black Lava rock salt sourced from the Big Island with skin-clarifying Giant and Chocolate Awapuhi Zingiber strains from O'ahu. Organic, vitamin-rich Papaya juice and Taro root extract were also added along with a detoxifying, Alaea red clay from Maui, which has been used for centuries in Hawai’i to extract impurities from wounds.

We’ve harnessed the tropics in this bar with ingredients sourced from local farms in both Hawai'i and California.

Of course, we could not call this The Coal-Conut Batch without including every part of the Coconut; from it’s anti-bacterial oil extracts, to the purifying ash of it’s shell, all the way to the exfoliating bits of shredded meat and husk. This batch is also infused with juices, oils, and butters of fruits like Guava, Lilikoi, Pineapple and Mango.

An after-training soap bar born in the tropics - our latest bacteria fighter was created with a goal of featuring some of the most powerful fungal-fighting + skin-nourishing ingredients specifically sourced from equatorial climates from around the world, we began by cultivating the roots of this batch with pure Hawaiian Spring Water before infusing it with an abundance of vitamin-rich tropical fruit juices + extracts from Pineapple, Hibiscus, and Barberry.

Each bar is then supercharged with an antifungal trio of our Australian Tea Tree Oil, Mandarin Orange Oil, and O’ahu-harvested Kukui Nut Oil.

A potent blend of organic Macadamia Nut Butter + Coconut Oil are then trickled in to soothe and moisturize damaged skin while a dash of minced up Coconut meat is added in to gently exfoliate away dead skin acquired from hard rolls.

In 1914, a Japanese man with the alias, “Conde Koma”, arrived in Brazil where he met a family that would ultimately reshape the landscape of martial arts forever. Inspired by the story of one of the greatest martial artists who ever lived, we proudly present, “The Big Trouble in Little Rio Batch”. A soap bar with such a powerful backstory would need to come with equal power in protecting Jiu Jitsu players worldwide. A heaping dose of USA-grown, full-spectrum hemp extract works to reduce inflammation while a potent 5-Oil-blend of Frankincense, Australian Tea Tree, Blood Orange, Spearmint, and Geranium join forces to combat any potential infection-causing bacteria. For skin hydration, each giant 10 oz. mega-bar is infused with organic Avocado oil and Rice Bran oil. The American Spring Batch

Like the “Purple mountain majesties” of the Rockies, our latest bacteria-slaughtering Mega Bar glows like a backlit Amethyst stone. Strictly powered by ingredients grown on US soil, “The American Spring Batch” was inspired by just that; beginning with the pure Spring Water we source from Upstate New York, all the way to the 90-proof Tennessee Whiskey we’ve injected into each bar. A heavy dose of American Witch Hazel from Connecticut is then combined with a potent infection-fighting trifecta of USA-distilled Tea Tree Oil + USA-grown Carrot and Eucalyptus Oil. From California, where all of our soap products are crafted, we’ve added in a healthy pour of vitamin-rich Goat’s Milk along with raw unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar to soothe and fortify damaged skin. From Colorado, we’ve sourced Organic Wheat flower and Wheat germ oil for their high volume of Vitamin E, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B6 which help to prevent skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema and dry skin. Next, handfuls of USP-grade Epsom Salt are generously scattered in to soothe soar muscles. The Alpha and Omega Batch

A sweet-scented, supersized bacteria-hunting soap brick inspired by the predatory creatures of myth and folklore. Although rare, super packs of wolves have been recorded in the hundreds. These packs develop social bonds so strong they’ve been known to sacrifice themselves for the survival of the pack. Similarities of family and unity can be found throughout Jiu Jitsu academies around the world. We knew a bar built around a creature so formidable deserved a fungal-fighting formulation to match. We began by infusing this batch with one of the strongest natural bacteria killing oils on earth - East Cape Manuka oil, an ingredient that has been proven to be more than 33x more effective in eliminating the Staphylococcus Aureus (Staph) strain than it’s Australian counterpart. We’ve combined this with a potent, fungus fighting 5-oil-blend of Night Blooming Jasmine, Vetiver, Clary Sage, Tea tree, and Cypress. We then added in a healthy helping of Myrrh Resin Powder - used by the Egyptians for centuries to promote quick wound healing. Next, a bountiful amount of North American Blueberry Oil was poured in for its powerful antioxidants and high levels of alpha linolenic acid, an essential fat known for healing damaged skin. The Samurai Den Batch

While the formulation of this batch stemmed from the warriors of Feudal Japan and how they utilized Blue Indigo, the original talks that led to this batch actually revolved around an old sushi house in town. With it’s dark halls, low ceilings, and samurai artwork on the walls, it conjured up sounds of sharpening blades and scents of smoke and ash in our imagination. These thoughts of what a “samurai den” would have been like in the Edo Period led to our latest after training soap creation.

Each supersized 10oz. blue brick comes loaded with Indigo Extract from Tokushima, Japan which directly lends its dark hazy navy blue color to the bar, as well as its ability to fight bacteria and odor. For an extra boost of antibacterial power, we sourced 3 very special ingredients directly from The land of the rising sun: cooling Japanese Peppermint Oil, Hinoki Oil (Japanese Cypress), and Sugi Oil (Japanese Cedar). We also blended in our signature high grade Australian Tea Tree Oil.

Fresh Yuzu Fruit Juice is then poured in plentifully to this batch as it’s a Japanese antioxidant powerhouse packed with Vitamin C and also aids in skin rehydration.

Unfiltered Sake is also on the menu in this batch - drizzled in every bar due to it’s richness in amino-acids and natural enzymes that help to brighten skin.

Each bar is finally sprinkled with Bamboo Charcoal Powder to absorb any potentially harmful bacteria picked up on the mat while ground up Black Sesame Seeds work to exfoliate away any dead skin accumulated during heavy training.

*NOTE: The blue Indigo Extract in these bars will lightly bleed blue as you wash. When you're finished washing, place bar on a soap dish or wash cloth to prevent blue extract residue in your shower. From our experience sampling the soap over the last year, the extract will not permanently stain tile or grout.

The Serengeti Yeti Batch

Introducing a Yeti-sized brick of fungus-fighting glycerine as dark as a moonless night in Tanzania; a soap bar that is truly unique in the realm of Jiu Jitsu, where the Arctic converges with Africa. Our 25th After-Training soap batch has taken more than a year to develop.

We start by using the traditional and time-consuming method of making African Black Soap. This involves roasting Cocoa Pods and Plantain Peels to produce ash, which lends the soap its dark color. Hydrating Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter are then generously heaped in.

Each monster block of soap is then supercharged with a powerful blend of four oils: Australian Tea Tree, Lemongrass, Arctic Peppermint, and Comfrey, which work together to eliminate mat-born bacteria. Inspired by ancient Viking medical practices for wound healing, Comfrey Oil and Yarrow Flower are generously loaded in every bar.

High-Mountain Honey was then drizzled in. A nectar renowned globally for its antibacterial qualities, various warrior cultures of the past, including the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, and Knights, utilized this adaptable sweet substance to safeguard wounds from infection.

Every Yeti bar was rounded off with touch of organic Licorice Powder, which was commonly used in the Middle Ages to calm irritated skin. We also tossed in a dash of Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder to help remove impurities while a heavy pour of Coconut Oil offers bountiful rehydration to skin. Ground Walnut Shells were finally sprinkled in to exfoliate away any dead skin acquired during heavy training.

“Spider Guard Serum” was dreamed up in a jacuzzi in early 2018 after a long week of open guard specific training. A stiff neck, soar fingers, and balled-up forearm muscles left us plotting what a simpler method of recovery could be.

Enter - "Spider Guard Serum" - an all natural roll-on gel, 100% formulated and lab-tested in San Diego, California to aid us from the minor injuries that we procur from hard rounds day in and day out. “GrappleSauce” is our latest After-Training creation - a juicy fungus-fighting concoction inspired by our need to clean our hair and scalp more than once a day after multiple training sessions.

This Organic Apple Cider Vinegar-based liquid was designed to avoid over-shampooing while providing a gentle cleanse that will not strip hair of natural oils. Our pure ACV base helps to seal hair cuticles, hence adding shine while helping to balance your hairs PH levels. ACV also helps to gently exfoliate the scalp and unclog hair follicles as naturally as possible.

We’ve also added in our trusted blend of Organic Tea Tree Oil and Organic Lavender Oil to give “GrappleSauce” an extra boost of bacteria + fungus-fighting capabilities along with Macadamia Nut Oil to rehydrate the hair and scalp during the cleansing process. We also added in Aloe Vera Juice which also contributes to promoting a healthy PH balance of the hair, scalp, and skin, preventing potential infections due to an unhealthy balance all while locking in moisture.

The formula is finally rounded off with Antioxidant-rich Dandelion Leaf Extract, infused to reduce oxidative stress and cell damage caused by free radicals.

The Copacabana Beach Fight Hand Soap

After almost a year of development, “The Copacabana Beach Fight Hand Soap” has finally arrived. While developing the idea that inspired our latest soap project, we decided to dive back into the rich soil that only a country like Brazil offers for the first time since our creation of “The Açaí Batch” - sourcing a symphony of natural bacteria killers and skin nourishing botanicals harvested in the motherland of Jiu Jitsu.

Each 8oz. recycled/recyclable PET bottle is packed to the brim with ingredients sourced directly from Brazil to our soap factory in San Francisco, CA, where it is formulated.

Vitamin-rich Açaí Oil, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, is combined with a potent fungus-fighting blend of Brazilian Peppertree Honey, Brazil-grown Lemon Oil, and our pure Australian Tea Tree Oil. Imported Guarana Powder is then sprinkled in for it’s combination of caffeine and plant-based compounds like catechins + tannins offering antibacterial effects and increased blood flow in the skin. We followed that up with a triple infusion of Brazil-sourced Super-Moisturizers - Cupuaçu Butter, Fermented Coconut Sugar, and Brazilian Coconut Oil to deeply rehydrate hands. This liquid germ destroyer from the Southern Hemisphere is finally rounded off with Aloe Vera to promote faster healing along with a high-grade Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract which lends it’s uniquely sweet scent to this creamy lather.

For our latest soap label design, we enlisted the help of 3rd Degree Jiu Jitsu Black Belt / Artist, Sam Kressin, to emulate an infamous fight that took place on Praia Do Pepê Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1988. As the story goes, the impromptu fight was to settle a dispute between two martial arts academies at the time, one a Luta Livre school, and the other a Jiu Jitsu academy. This soothing serum was dreamed up in a jacuzzi in early 2018 after a long week of open guard specific training. Enter - "Spider Guard Serum" - an all natural roll-on gel, 100% formulated and lab-tested in San Diego, California to aid us from the minor injuries that we procur from hard rounds day in and day out.
